Who am I?

A 30 year old Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) enthusiast who has caught the bug for running around in fields and climbing over obstacles as a weekend warrior. By day I’m head of science in a comprehensive secondary school, around this I fit my training towards my fairly ambitious goals.

A fundraiser – in 2017 I was part of a team that managed to raise £5000 for Cancer Research UK, the aim was to complete 10 Tough Mudder events throughout the year. I ended up doing 12 and then decided to continue with the challenges for 2018 and to step them up to the next level.

A bootcamper – I joined Fitness Squad UK in August 2016 as a motivator and precursor to the charity targets of 2017. I now continue to attend 3 times a week (work permitting) and have a large amount of gratitude to give to the instructor Jonny and the other attendees. As a result of starting this journey, I lost 3 and a half stone (22kg) and massively improved my overall fitness.

A beard grower – Initially grown to aid the fundraising, I shaved the beard in May 2017 and raised over £500 towards our target. However, I had grown to love the beard and it is now back and here to stay. I’m in the experimental stages of beard care and following the influx of Christmas gifts, now have a number of different shampoos and oils that I will be working my way through.
